Powered for Life

The premise for Powered for Life (PFL) is that we believe God created everyone to work.  He designed all of us with gifts and talents to subdue and steward the earth through work.  We find our purpose, meet our economic needs, and worship God through our work.  The good news of Jesus Christ and biblical principles motivate our vision, mission, values, and practices. We believe transformation is possible – that change can happen when we all work together.

Powered for Life is taught at GISD STARS Academy and at Premier High School in Granbury.  Apply through these schools.

PFL is designed for youth ages 15 to 18.  The PFL program at Forward Training Center (FTC) teaches the national Jobs for Life (JFL) organization’s proven curriculum to teach job skills training.  We follow its guidelines and use its training materials in our program.  This national partnership allows FTC to stay current on training concepts and techniques to provide our clients with the most up-to-date guidance.

PFL is an abbreviated version of our JFL program.  We subscribe to the motto, mission, and vision of the national JFL organization:

  • MOTTO: Uplifting humanity through the dignity of work — one city, one community, one life at a time.
  • MISSION: Creating pathways to meaningful work and entrepreneurial opportunities through community engagement.
  • VISION: All people are flourishing in their work and relationships.
